Dental Implants, Partials, & Bridges Replace Missing Teeth
Are you missing one or more teeth? Recent studies show that a lost tooth greatly increases your chances of losing more teeth. Dr. Curtis offers several options for replacing missing teeth including dental implants.
Why replace missing teeth?
A missing tooth increases the workload of remaining teeth, which often leads to fractured cusps, broken fillings, places where food catches, and difficult cavities in other teeth. Lost teeth in the back of the mouth may cause your bite to collapse, leading to spaces and loosening of the front teeth later in life.
What are my replacement options?
Dr. Curtis offers three options: Partial Dentures (Partials), Fixed Bridges, or Implants:
Removable Partials consist of one or more teeth on a gum-colored base. The teeth in a partial are secured to adjacent or “abutment” teeth with small clasps. In many cases, Dr. Curtis can make partial clasps inconspicuous by using state-of-the-art cosmetic techniques. Partials are removable, not fixed like a bridge. Because partials rely on surrounding teeth for support, you must have good oral health before Dr. Curtis will recommend this option.
Fixed Bridges utilize esthetic porcelain crowns that anchor replacement teeth in place. Bridges are a wonderful way to replace teeth, and since they are cemented in place so they look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
Dental Implants are the ideal tooth-replacement option because they replace a missing tooth’s root, as well as the crown. Dental implants do not require support from adjacent teeth, and they keep the jawbone strong because the artificial roots (implant posts) stimulate the jawbone. With dental implants, you will not experience tooth decay, gum disease, or sensitivity, and they can last a lifetime. Dental implants have a success rate of 90 to 98%. Dr. Curtis places and restores implants in his Trumbull, Bridgeport, CT area dental office. He can also secure dentures, partials, or bridgework with dental implants.
Dental implant candidates must be in good health and have adequate bone structure. Dr. Curtis will evaluate your case to determine which replacement option is right for you. For a Bridgeport, Trumbull implant dentist, call Dr. Curtis today to schedule your consultation.<–>
